The Libyan Association for Quality and Excellence in Education, in collaboration with the Research and Consultation Center at Benghazi University, organized a workshop titled “Quality and Assurance in Libyan Government Universities in the Post-COVID-19 Era: Realities and Future Approaches.” The workshop took place on Thursday at the Research and Consultation Center.

Dr. Adel Mohamed Al-Sharkasi, the President of the Libyan Association for Quality and Excellence in Education, and the session chair, inaugurated the workshop. In his speech, he emphasized the association’s continuous efforts to present its reports to national and international experts.

Dr. Hussein Salem Marjini then presented the association’s report on quality and assurance in Libyan government universities in the post-COVID-19 era, followed by interventions from:

– Dr. Moataz Khurshid, Former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Egypt.
– Dr. Mohammed Amer Al-Mardini, Former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Syria.
– Dr. Sultan Abu Arabi, President of the Arab International Foundation for Education Development, Former Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities.
– Dr. Abdel Majeed Ben Omara, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils.
– Dr. Ahmed Al-Zarrouk, Executive Director of the Research and Consultation Center.

They evaluated the association’s report, identified future pathways for Libyan universities, and then opened the floor for discussions on the report’s findings and the challenges facing quality assurance in Libyan universities.

Dr. Fathi Al-Mansouri, an advisor at the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, provided additional insights during the workshop. Several important recommendations emerged from the event, which will be included in the association’s report and forwarded to relevant authorities.
